Glebe Café Church has been successful in obtaining a grant of $12,000 from the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water for the ‘Café Church Goes Green’ Water and Energy Saving project. Glebe Café Church will install water efficient taps and showerheads, energy efficient lighting, a solar hot water system and ceiling insulation to improve water and energy efficiency. The Café Church will raise community awareness about climate change and efficiency through ‘switch off’ stickers, information posters and presentations at community dinners, forums, music concerts, workshops and exhibitions hosted by the church and to the choirs, drama groups, commercial and community organisations hiring the Café Church space. The project will save more than 8 tonnes of greenhouse gases and around 61,000 litres of water per year.
