Eco Preaching

We have cancelled the Eco Sermon showcase for now, but if you have a sermon or reflection of 4-8 minutes which explores the connection between the ecos and our faith, please still share it with us, and we will feature it somehow.  Email a dropbox or youtube link to [email protected]

Calling all Ministers, Lay Preachers and Candidates:

Send us your best eco sermon! (about 8 minutes)

Due date: July 3rd

Eco Sermon Showcase event: July 9th, 7pm online

Festival of Homiletics

May 18 – 22

This year, the US-based festival is available online and livestreamed free.

We are particularly excited that the theme for this year is:

Preaching a New Earth: Climate and Creation

Given this, we are encouraging all those passionate about the environment or preaching to tune in, and hone their skills in communicating creation care and climate to church audiences.

(Unfortunately time zones mean that the conference is being livestreamed between 2am and 6am in Australian Eastern Standard Time. However, there is a paid option to access the videos in your own time from June 2, if you choose to do that.)

Uniting Mission and Education (UME) are also organising a series of discussions about the sessions, and learnings from them, in early June. We will update times here as these become available.

Eco Sermon Showcase

Inspired by the festival, Uniting Earth are asking preachers to send us their best eco sermon video! Send us one you have, one inspired by a talk you’ve heard at the festival, or one you’ve written as a way of applying what you’ve learned about eco preaching.

Collected sermons will become part of an Eco Sermon Showcase event in early July, and our favourite 4 will be used as part of our worship resources for the Season of Creation in September.

Sermons should be approximately 8 minutes in length.

Show us what you can do!
